General Contracting and Design Consultation
We have acted as general contractors for several projects and in doing so developed relationships with complimentary sub-trades such as electricians specialising in off-grid applications and strawbale plasterers. We’ve also been fortunate enough to work with some great architects and designers who approach the building world from a similar perspective. As general contractors we don’t stray too far from home. It is important to have the local connections and resources to make a project run smoothly.

General Contracting Consultants
On a few of the projects we have worked on the homeowner has acted as their own general contractor. This is done mostly to be involved in the project and have some control and meet all the sub-trades but sometimes can be difficult for all parties at a very basic level if they don’t share the same vocabulary. In response to this we are offering a new service as consultants to owner/general contractors. This could be as simple/low cost as answering a few emails or phone calls, or it could be much more involved. At this level we would meticulously study the plans, offer feedback from a construction perspective, scheduling advice, material selection, references and connections to various sub-trades.

Green Spec
With reference to material selection; this is an area where we can help owner builders (and designers) wade through the sea of green. We offer help with product selection by analysing it’s ‘greenness’, availability, cost, and ease of installation. For specific products we will provide a short report that summarises these characteristics and will help you to compare and choose products.
